Digital Equity: Moving To Action

Digital equity is a human right. All people and communities should have equitable and quality digital access, equipment and digital proficiency. Digital equity ensures that all people have the opportunity and capacity to participate fully in our society, economy, and democracy.

As the fall begins, the Alliance for Digital Equity is moving towards action with two working sessions so we can develop practical solutions to make sure everyone in our community can use the internet.  These sessions will be on September 29 and October 19, starting at 5:00 pm. To create solutions, we need to hear from a wide range of people in our community. Please join us!

Over the summer we have identified four areas of action, including:

1. Literacy: Expanding and enhancing the ability to use computers and the internet
2. Resource Center: Developing a resources center or help desk to assist people with support and equipment
3. Policy: Developing programs and policies that promote greater digital equity
4. Screening: Ask questions about digital access and literacy in intake or registration processes.

This session in September will focus on planning for action. We hope to build momentum in our planning on Sept. 29 so we can move into the October workshop with concrete ideas. Please join us when you can.
