Alleviating the Impact of Compassion Fatigue & Vicarious Trauma

March 12, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Although tending to ourselves is always an important component of doing our work well, it is particularly crucial during challenging times like these. We are not only impacted by the loss and trauma of those we serve, but we may be experiencing personal distress as well. This interactive training is designed to increase awareness of the signs of vicarious trauma (VT), compassion fatigue (CF), trauma exposure response (TER) and secondary traumatic stress (STS). We will develop a “VT toolkit” of personal skills as well as resources and strategies that not only help to increase compassion satisfaction and mitigate VT, CF, TER and STS but will also support your overall well-being. This program will be using a variety of methods including lecture, discussion, individual and small group reflection, mindfulness based practices and humor.
